“Boom! Boom!” The sound of my video game echoed through my ears. My eyes were glued to my phone as I was completely absorbed in the game I was playing.

As I walked home by the traffic light junction after school had ended, I approached a road crossing. However, I was so engrossed in my game that, without even looking up, I pressed the traffic light button while trying to win the match. Still immersed in my own world, I stepped forward and began walking onto the road.

“Honk! Honk!”Suddenly, a loud honking sound pierced the air. Startled, I quickly turned my head towards it. To my horror, a large lorry appeared out of nowhere. The lorry was charging towards me like a raging bull. Frozen in shock, my feet were rooted to the ground.

By a stroke of luck, the lorry managed to slow down and came to a halt just in time. In total disbelief, I rubbed my eyes to check if it was all just a figment of my imagination. A wave of panic swept over me as the driver clambered out of the lorry. I wondered whether I should flee or stay where I was.

However, I had no time to think as the driver was already standing in front of me. He reprimanded me for being too careless.

On the way home, I immediately switched off my phone, feeling ashamed of what had happened. At that moment, I learnt that I should never be careless or distracted by my phone while walking.

Determined to be honest, I decided to share what had happened with my family despite knowing that I would be scolded. It was a mistake I would never make again.
